Amazon have a Gay and Lesbian section. Take a browse and if you spend money remember the forum's coffers will benefit.

Jenny suggests From the Closet to the Screen: Women at the Gateways Club 1945-85 by Jill Gardiner.
Jenny says, "I am old enough to have been to the Gateways and in fact met my long term partner there in 1978. It was a really special place - scary for new people but exciting and welcoming too. This book is a really important record of part of lesbian history, and of course the Gateways featured in the film "The Killing of Sister George" as well as being the subject of a song "The Green Door" by Frankie Lane".

Nigel suggests Mr Right Is Out There: the Gay Man's Guide to Finding and Maintaining Love by Kenneth George.
Music
Janis Ian
Janis Ian was born in 1951 so definitely and older lesbian herself. She and her partner, Pat, were married in 2003, in Toronto. Check out her albums: Revenge and
Joan Armatrading
Rebecca says, "Joan was born in 1952 so is definitely "older" by our definition. While she keeps her private life private, I feel her songs speak very strongly to lesbians - well me anyway... I recommend:

The Very Best of Joan Armatrading which includes such favourties as "Willow", "Me, Myself, I" and "All the way from America"
and the most recent album
